“Roots of Sustainability”- Participants Promoted Recycling and Environmental Awareness

The Erasmus+ KA152 Youth Exchange project "Roots of Sustainability" (Project No. 2025-1-TR01-KA152-YOU-000299086) was implemented in Kastamonu, Türkiye, between 1–8 February 2026, under the coordination of Kastamonu Kalkınma Sağlık Çevre Eğitim ve Turizm Vakfı. Bringing together young participants from Türkiye, Georgia, Germany, Austria, the project promoted environmental sustainability, responsible lifestyles, and active youth participation through non-formal education. As part of the programme, participants focused on strengthening environmental awareness through community engagement, interactive learning, and reflection-based activities.

One of the highlights of the programme was the Eco-Friendly Market Initiative. Participants showcased the recycled products they had created during previous workshops and introduced them to members of the local community. By interacting directly with passersby, they explained the importance of recycling, shared the creative processes behind their handmade products, and encouraged environmentally responsible habits. This activity enabled participants to apply their learning in a real-life setting while contributing to greater public awareness of sustainability.

The programme also featured the Environmental Knowledge Challenge, where participants worked in international teams to test and expand their knowledge of recycling, environmental pollution, and sustainable lifestyles. Through friendly competition, collaborative problem-solving, and intercultural exchange, they reinforced the knowledge gained during the project while learning from one another's experiences and perspectives.

The activities concluded with evaluation and reflection sessions that encouraged participants to assess both their learning journey and personal development. Through online feedback forms and group discussions, they reflected on the impact of the programme, exchanged ideas for future improvements, and highlighted the value of active participation throughout the project.
