We Participated in the “Roots of Sustainability” Youth Exchange Project
The Erasmus+ KA152 Youth Exchange project "Roots of Sustainability" (Project No. 2025-1-TR01-KA152-YOU-000299086) was implemented in Kastamonu, Türkiye, between 1–8 February 2026, under the coordination of Kastamonu Kalkınma Sağlık Çevre Eğitim ve Turizm Vakfı. Bringing together young participants from Türkiye, Georgia, Germany, Austria the project aimed to raise environmental awareness, promote sustainable lifestyles, and strengthen young people's active citizenship through non-formal education. As one of the project partners, GrüneInitiative Verein was proud to contribute to this international learning experience.
Throughout the project, participants took part in a wide range of educational sessions, interactive workshops, and practical activities focusing on recycling, waste management, environmental protection, and sustainable living. Through experiences such as producing plantable seed paper from recycled materials, creative upcycling workshops, environmental knowledge challenges, community awareness initiatives, and digital dissemination activities, participants developed practical solutions to environmental issues while expanding their knowledge of sustainability.
Beyond its environmental focus, the project created a valuable space for intercultural dialogue and international cooperation. Young people from different countries exchanged ideas, shared good practices, and explored diverse perspectives on sustainability while working together in multicultural teams. Throughout the mobility, they also strengthened essential competences such as communication, teamwork, leadership, problem-solving, creativity, and digital content creation, supporting both their personal and professional development.
By the end of "Roots of Sustainability," participants had gained not only practical knowledge about environmental responsibility but also the confidence and motivation to apply sustainable practices in their everyday lives and inspire positive change within their local communities. As GrüneInitiative Verein, we believe the project has empowered young people to become active ambassadors of sustainability and has laid the foundation for long-term environmental awareness and international cooperation.
